Valley Of Flowers In Maharashtra - Kaas Plateau (Kaas Pathar)

The Kaas Plateau, also known as the Kaas Pathar, is a plateau situated 25 kms west from Satara city in Maharashtra, India. It is a biodiversity hotspot known for various types of seasonal wild flowers bloom & numerous species of endemic butterflies annually in the months of August & September. It became a part of a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 2012

After check post near entrance of plateau, entire Kaas Plateau is protected by means of fencing. Kaas Pathar, the glorious paradise of flowers is situated on both side of a broad walkway.
Near ticket booth, forest department hanged a hording which shows map of Kaas Plateau. Also few permanent posters are also there which gives information of important species of flowering plants of Kaas Pathar.
Elements of outstanding Universal Value Kaas Plateau is rich in its Bio-diversity. Kaas Pathar is very important for botanical studies and future research work. Many of the endemic,endangered plants are found on Plateau. More than 850 species of flowering plants are reported.
One needs to walk across the Kaas plateau to experience one of a heavenly walk on earth.
Kaas plateua offers a memorable experince for tourists. Plan a one day trip to enjoy the amazing play of colors of fauna and flora at Kaas pathar. No better way is there to learn to love Nature than to understand Art. 
More than 850 species of flowering plants are reported on the Kaas plateau. 624 species have entered in the Red Data Book, a document that maintains a list of rare and endangered flora and fauna. Out of these 624 species, 39 are found only in Kaas Pathar.
The 1,000-hectare region of Kaas Plateau (Kaas Pathar) undergoes a most outlandish phenomenon and turns into a riot of colors, with wildflowers carpeting the land as far as you can see. This mesmerizing colorful landscape is amazing memories to cherish forever.

Important Note: Basically, there are two sections on either side of the road, where flowers bloom during different periods. The flowers are expected during October, if we entered the plateau via left side. Whereas flowers blooming in September on other side of Kaas Plateau (Kaas Pathar). Both sections are protected by fencing.
